Scope Of Practice

Dr. Sellwood works with children, adults and families utilizing evidence-based interventions, such as cognitive behavioral therapy and family systems interventions, to help achieve treatment goals. One of her primary areas of expertise is working with children and adolescents. Dr. Sellwood’s understanding of human interactions and her knowledge of how individuals function with family and societal systems allows for effective and powerful interventions. She helps with the reorganization of problems into the development of understanding through effective communication, problem solving techniques, coping skills, and conflict resolution. Topics frequently addressed in therapy include:

Dr. Sellwood provides individual psychotherapy for adults struggling with parent-child difficulties, relationship concerns, phase of life struggles, and other situations of conflict. Another strength of her practice is working with families through the court system who are going through high-conflict divorce. Dr. Sellwood also mediates custody and child rearing philosophy disputes, helps parents comply with court-ordered parenting plans, provides education about children’s developmental and psychological needs, and helps mitigate conflict. She regularly collaborates with a variety of professionals, including: pediatricians, psychiatrists, attorneys, teachers, and other professionals.
